Our workshop space is limited and we offer small (minimum two people), personalised Introduction to Letterpress workshops a couple of times a year.
Working alongside each other, with close supervision and access to their own tabletop press, participants will work to select type, set type, lock up a chase, ink up a press, proof their work and print. Participants also learn about the history of letterpress printing.
Would you like to join us at a workshop?
Our next workshop will be in 2019 – check back for dates or get in touch if you would like to set your own dates!
9.30am – 4pm and 9.30am – 1pm
Numbers are strictly limited and spaces are offered on a ‘first in’ basis.
Morning and afternoon tea supplied.
Also supplied: access to tabletop presses, lead and wood type, ink, chases, furniture, quoins and keys, spacers, brayers, composing sticks, proofing paper and cleaning materials.
Participants supply their own quality paper.
To share our love of the traditional forms of letterpress, Deckled Edge Press offers demonstrations. At these events, we bring along one or two of our presses; take you through the history of letterpress printing, demonstrate how lead type is locked together in the chase and offer everybody a chance to print. Demonstrations usually go for 2-3 hours.
We also offer demonstrations at our studio in Maleny. If you’d like to find out more – please get in touch HERE.
We understand how you might love letterpress printing and become proficient at it; yet not be able to afford the time, space or money to set up your own press and studio space.
For experienced letterpress printers we offer access to the studio, the type, and the presses.
Access is via negotiation and dependent on ability and availability.
Full day access (9am – 4pm): $120.00
Part day access: $25 per hour
Printers supply their own paper and any plates; however, rags, cleaning materials and ink are provided.
Letterpress work produced by Deckled Edge Press, or ourselves as individual artists, is entered into shows and exhibitions from time to time. This is where we will let you know where you can see our work on display.
You can also always contact us via email or phone if you are nearby and would like to stop in and see the studio and our work.
